Rep. Wortz delivers update on severe weather

State Rep. Jennifer Wortz today issued an update on the aftermath of the EF3 tornado that struck Union City, along with the possible dangers of coming inclement weather.

“What happened to Union City was absolutely devastating,” said Wortz (R-Quincy). “My heart goes out to the families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy, and I pray for the recovery of those who have been injured. We are working at the local, state, and federal level to ensure that the people of Union City are receiving the resources needed to rebuild their lives in the face of this hardship. I also want to express my deepest thanks to our first responders, who have worked around the clock to assist our community during this horrific event.”

Severe storms are expected to come through the area again on Tuesday evening. Please take precautions to ensure safety. The following resources are available to help:

Coordinates disaster response, damage assessments, and local emergency resources. 

  • American Red Cross – Disaster Relief: 1-800-RED-CROSS 

Provides emergency shelter, food, and disaster assistance.

Connects residents with local resources including temporary housing, food assistance, clothing, supplies, and crisis support.

Report power outages or downed power lines.
