Rep. Roth to host local office hours

State Rep. John Roth, R-Interlochen, will soon host local office hours in Bellaire, Elk Rapids, Kalkaska, Kingsley, and Frankfort.

The meetings will take place at the following times and locations:

Monday, August 4

M88 Morning Grind; 9 to 10 a.m., 614 E. Cayuga St. in Bellaire.
Elk Rapids District Library; 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., 300 Isle of Pines Drive in Elk Rapids.
Twin Birch Restaurant and Golf Course; 3 to 4 p.m., 1030 Co Road 612 in Kalkaska.

Monday, August 11

Kingsley Village Office; 9 to 10 a.m., 207 S Brownson Ave. in Kingsley.

Monday, August 18

Benzie Shores District Library; 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., 630 Main St. #9059 in Frankfort.

No appointments are necessary to attend office hours. Those who are unable to attend but would still like to share their thoughts with the representative may call his Lansing office at (517) 373-1766 or email [email protected].

“I’m not sure how these people still have a job,” said Roth, R-Interlochen. “In the next election, if I only receive 2% of the vote, there is no way I’m keeping my job. If only 2% of a teacher’s class passes, they’d be fired. If a construction company only completes 2% of a project, they’re not getting paid. However, for some bizarre reason, we’re allowing our state police leadership to continue after they’ve lost support from nearly their entire department.”

Rep. Roth calls on Senate to answer for MDHHS budget failures

“MDHHS needs to realize that just because you hire someone to fill a cubicle three days a month – and sit at home in their pajamas for the rest of the time – doesn’t mean that person is doing a good job,” said Roth, R-Interlochen. “People are having major issues with the services they receive from the state. MDHHS is having similar issues with hiring, with over 1,000 full-time positions vacant. It’s time to stop throwing money at the problem and start looking at the core reasons for failures within MDHHS.”
