State Rep. Cam Cavitt welcomed Jenna Carigon, an honor roll student in the 11th grade at Atlanta High School, to the State Capitol in Lansing last week. Carigon had the opportunity to be a legislator for a day after winning a local art contest hosted by Cavitt. Her winning submission was a painting of an elk, capturing the essence of Northeast Michigan. She chose the elk because Atlanta is the Elk Capitol of Michigan.

“It was so great to welcome Jenna and her family to Lansing for the day,” said Cavitt, R-Cheboygan. “Jenna’s painting was truly impressive and really embodied how a lot of people view Northeast Michigan. It’s great to see young people from our community with such talent. She is a remarkable individual with a bright future ahead of her.”

Carigon finds joy in reading her Bible and worshipping at the Evangelical Free Church in Gaylord. For the past two years, she has worked at Garland Resort in Lewiston, gaining valuable experience and skills. She also enjoys crafting with her Grandma Carol.
